Gestern hatte ich ja über das Wallpaperproblem geschrieben und auch gesagt ich würde eventuell das Problem angehen. Naja das habe ich jetzt getan hier noch ein kleines Bild

Das Programm in Aktion

Ihr könnt mit git clone git://anongit.kde.org/scratch/kolberg/wallpaper-tool das Programm erhalten. Wenn Ihr alles eingetragen habt und create gedrückt habt, wird in eurem Heimatverzeichniss in .kde/wallpapers ein Verzeichnis angelegt, dieses könnt Ihr hochladen, falls Ihr das Wallpaper veröffentlichen möchtet.

Tool to write teach plasma the metadata of an wallpaper

Everybody(using a picture as wallpaper) has experinced it once. You found an awesome new  Wallpaper, but in the settings you can't find it properly (with all the info). Or you did an wallpaper and simply uploaded it. This problem is now over.

Wallpaper-tool is here.

As you can see it's a really simple app only a few fields and so.
After you have set all up you press create and you are done. For artists or people who want to upload that wallpaper. The folder you want is in ~/.kde/wallpaper/

Suspend to Ram über Tastenkombination oder von der Konsole (ohne Rootrechte)

Wenn man sich Suspend to Ram z.B. auf ein Tastenkombination legen möchte hat man unter Plasma Workspace dazu die Gelegenheit.

Man geht zu eigenen Kurzbefehlen und fügt einen neuen hinzu, dieser muss eine DBus-Aktion auslösen.

• Programm auf Fremdrechner: org.freedesktop.PowerManagement 
• Objekt auf Fremdrechner: /org/freedesktop/PowerManagement
• Funktion: org.freedesktop.PowerManagement.Suspend
• Argumente:

Wenn man das ganze auf der Konsole nutzen will:

qdbus org.freedesktop.PowerManagement /org/freedesktop/PowerManagement org.freedesktop.PowerManagement.Suspend

zumindest der Konsolenbefehl sollte auch unter Gnome und allem anderen was sich an die Standards hält gehen.

Wallpaper Howto

Ich habe das Problem eigentlich fast immer, wenn ich ein Wallpaper finde, dann sehe ich das in der Hintergrundbildauswahl der Plasma SC nicht genauso, wie ich möchte. Um dieses Problem zu bekämpfen gibt es eine einfache Lösung.

 Im Ordner .kde/share/wallpapers legt ihr einen Unterordener an, den ihr nennt, wie ihr möchtet.

• Dann erstellt ihr noch contents/images darunter und legt dann das Bild als BREITExHÖHE.jpg dort ab. Dabei müsst ihr natürlich Breite und Höhe des richtigen Bildes angeben. 
• Dann öffnet ihr das Bild noch mit einem Bildbearbeitungsprogramm erschafft euch eine kleine Vorschau und speichert diese als screenshot.jpg in dem Unterordner contents. 
• Nun fehlt nur noch der letzte Schliff, die metadata.desktop oberhalb des contents-Ordners.

 Ich hoffe Ihr habt damit viel Spaß. Ich schreibe jetzt glaube ich noch schnell ein kleines Tool, um das ganze zu vereinfachen.

Ubiquity mockup in Qt Quick

I spent the last tree days in doing a Ubiquity (the Kde fontend) mockup written in Qt Quick. I have to say it was a nice experience so far. (I didn’t really know Qt Quick before)

At the moment it is a clone of the old design, but Qt Quick makes it easy for designers to make bling design and it has way better effects included by now. Also I think using Qt Quick for the frontend of ubiquity would be great for the whole Ubuntu project, because we would only need to maintain one frontend instead of 2.

I plan to integrate the finall mockup into ubiquity and the Kubuntu team might use it in 12.10 as our frontend. If somebody want’s to help ping me in IRC (bulldog98 in #kubuntu-devel).

If you want to play with the sources just do a 

git clone git://anongit.kde.org/scratch/kolberg/ubiquity-mockup

install kde-runtime, libqtwebkit-qmlwebkitplugin and qt4-qmlviewer gointo the directory and run

qmlviewer -I /usr/lib/kde4/imports Ubiquity-mockup.qml

Kubuntu and KDE love story continued

I am proud to report that Kubuntu 11.10 has KDE SC 4.7.1 since about one week.

Over the last couple of weeks the better part of the Kubuntu team has been working on bringing KDE SC 4.7.1 to Kubuntu.

Especially the last week we started to backport it to Kubuntu 11.04. We’ll need some more time since 4.7.1 need a lot being backported to natty.

Of course we would not be in that good a position for the 4.7.1 release without the excellent team of Kubuntu Ninjas, the elite release packagers working in the dungeon of our IRC channel.

Together they prepared 130 source packages for upload. And improved the scripts and added zsh completion they will be merged into our official repository soon.

A big thank you goes to:

• Romain Perier – french reinforcement for the ninjas, though he is becoming a knight who says ni at the court of Phonon (or so someone told me)
• Rohan Garg – he did quite a few packages and had nearly no time to do so
• Michał Zając – who merged in nearly all the stuff I packaged  (thanks mate)
• Philip Muškovac – not much of a blogger but a really good mate 
• Felix Geyer – who did only one package, but reuploaded all our packages to enable our new translation handling for desktop files
• Scott Kitterman – the man who actually gets new stuff into the archive, or not, depending on whether he gets enough cookies, sometimes proper licensing also helps
• Harald Sitter – who uploaded the translation packages, since my bandwidth is not sufficent
• Myself – the new Kubuntu member who did lots of packages :P

Hello Planet KDE

Last time I posted to planet kde I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Jonathan Kolberg and I’m one of the translators for German. Furthermore I work on Kubunt and I’m trying to get more into development. (especaly rekonq and KDevelop) I’m 18 years old (nearly 19) and I’m going to study computer sience with mathematics.

KDE at the Linuxtag

Yesterday Leinir posted about the Linuxtag in Berlin, but the pictures weren’t that good.

Today we did a new picture showing our booth, we share with Kubuntu and Calligra.

Wie scripte ich quassel?

Nutzt ihr Quassel und wolltet schon immer mal wissen, wie man Quassel skriptet? Dann seid ihr hier richtig.

Wieso sollte ich Quassel skripten?

Diese Frage ist ganz einfach zu beantworten: Um dumme und stupide Aufgaben zu automatisieren und geniale Effekte zu erziehlen.

Wenn ihr ein Skript schreibt, dann nutzt Quassel die Ausgabe des Skriptes als Eingabe fürs IRC.

Ein Beispielskript:

Dieses Skript gibt eine Nette Ausgabe in Quassel aus, was man aktuell in Amarok hört.

Um das Skript für Quassel verfügbar zu machen, müsst ihr das Skript in einer Datei speichern (etwa ~/bin/listening) und dann unter /usr/share/kde4/apps/quassel/scripts den Befehl sudo ln /home/BENUTZERNAME/bin/listening listening eingeben.

Anschließend könnt ihr in Quassel das Skript mittels /exec listening testen. Wenn das funktioniert, könnt ihr noch ein Alias dafür anlegen.

KMail2 und Kontact2 - Ein Teſt auf Alltagstauglichkeit

Seit geſtern nutzte ich das neue KMail2. Das neue an KMail2 iſt, das es auf Akonadi baſiert und weitere Probleme des alten Kmail’s beſeitigt, etwa das Blockieren der Benutzteroberfläche durch die Spamprüfung.

KMail2 iſt noch nicht endgültig freigegeben worden wird aber zuſammen mit dem Reſt des KDEpim-Moduls noch in einem der KDE 4.5 Update veröffentlicht werden.

Wer KMail2 teſten möchte ſollte ſich bewuſſt ſein, daſs immer noch Datenverluſte vorkommen könnten.

Um KMail2 zu teſten kann man mit folgenden Befehlen in Kubuntu auf KDEpim-4.5beta upgraden (KDE SC 4.5 muſs inſtalliert ſein):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/experimental
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kontact

Danach ſtartet man Kontact und die Einſtellungen werden migriert. Ich hatte einen Problem mit IMAP bei freenet und habe deſhalb in der Konfigurationſdatei ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc den Eintrag dafür entfernt und ſpäter in KMail2 ein Pop-Zugang hinzugefügt.

Ich fahr zum LinuxTag

Endlich iſt es ſoweit meine erste OpenSource Meſſe. Der LinuxTag in Berlin dieſes Jahr mit mir.

Ich hoffe auf dieſer Meſſe viele Nutzer und Firmen auf Kubuntu-Linux aufmerkſam zu machen. (Deutſchſprachige Community)

Vielleicht ſehe ich einige von euch.

Verbleibende Batteriezeit anzeigen

Um die verbleibende Akkuzeit anzuzeigen macht man einen rechts Klick auf das Widget und wählt "Einstellungen für Akkuüberwachung" und setzt einen Hacken vor "Ladezustandsinformationen anzeigen". Anschließen öffnet man über Alt + F2 krunner und gibt kquitapp plasma-desktop ein. Anschließend editiert man ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc oder ~/.kde/... dort sucht man nach showBatteryString=true und fügt showRemainingTime=true direkt darunter ein. Anschließend startet man mit plasma-desktop den Desktop.

Meine erste Nachricht auf kubuntu-de.org

Heute hab ich meine erste Nachricht für kubuntu-de.org geschrieben. Dabei handelte es sich um eine Bekanntmachung von Paketen der beta 9 von KDevelop 4. Ich hoffe damit den Einstieg in die Community kubuntu-de.org geschaft zu haben.
